Anne Cohen, MPH
Anne Cohen draws on health care delivery innovations, health and wellness research, and consumers' expertise to facilitate collaboration among experts from the health-care system and the disability community. Ms. Cohen managed Inland Empire Health Plan's programs for members with disabilities. While at IEHP, Ms. Cohen developed disability-targeted marketing and coordinated service delivery enhancement including production of member materials in alternative formats, implementing a targeted health education curriculum and identifying strategic national research partnerships.
Ms. Cohen has over 10 years experience in the disability field and has served in a variety of sectors promoting access to services for individuals with disabilities including examining health and wellness programs and services as a research fellow at Oregon Health & Sciences University and assisting consumers navigating the health and human services system as a Disability Advocacy Specialist for Oregon's Department of Health Services.
She has served on a variety of State and National advisory committees including, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) technical panel for the development of CAHPS for People with Mobility Impairments and California Health Care Foundation's (CHCF) development of Medi-Cal health plan performance standards and measures for People with Disabilities and Chronic Conditions. Ms. Cohen has been appointment by Oregon's Governor Kitzhaber to Oregon's State Independent Living Council and Oregon's Student Assistance Commission.
Ms. Cohen has a Masters in Public Health Administration from Portland State University where she graduated with honors. During her graduate work she examined exposure and effects of mercury-based preservative in pharmaceutical products and potential impact in the development of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Ms. Cohen has had muscular dystrophy since the age of eight and has experienced several challenges in navigating the complex health care system and identifying providers to deliver quality care. As a disability advocate she emphasizes working with in the health care system in order to promote the ideals of consumer directed health care delivery.
